Forever friends เป็นอีกหนึ่งใน candidate song ที่มีแนวโน้มว่าน่าจะมีโอกาสจะได้รับการคัดเลือกจาก คณะกรรมการจัดงานกีฬาโอลิมปิกปักกิ่ง 2008 (ฺThe Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2008 Olympics Games - BOCOG)ให้เป็นเพลงหลักในพิธีเปิดกีฬาโอลิมปิก 2008 ที่กรุงปักกิ่ง
เพลงนี้ จิออจิโอ้ โมโร้เด่อร์(Giorgio Moroder) ชาวอิตาเลียน ประพันธ์ร่วมกันกับนักเปียโนชาวจีนที่ชื่อว่า ข่งเสียงตง(孔祥东) เพื่อนที่รู้จักกันมากว่า 15 ปี
สำหรับ จิออจิโอ คนนี้ถ้าจำกันได้เป็นผู้ที่เคยฝากฝีไม้ลายมือในการแต่งเพลง Reach out ในกีฬาโอลิมปิก 1984 ที่นครลอสแองเจลิส, เพลง Hand in hand ในกีฬาโอลิมปิก 1988 ที่กรุงโซล
เพลงนี้ประพันธ์คำร้องโดย ไมเคิล คุนส์(Michael Kunze) ชาวเยอรมัน และได้นักร้องเสียงดี โคโค่ลี(李玟 จากฮ่องกง) และ ซุนหนาน(孙楠 จากจีนแผ่นดินใหญ่)
